This Son was God. “She will name him Immanuel,” which means, “God with us.” Not God against us, as our sins deserve, but God with us, with his comfort, and his forgiveness, and his salvation. God with us in our weakness. God with us in our sufferings. God with us in our lowly and doomed lives. And God with us in death.
All so that we could be with God in life.
