Humbly standing in the corner at that feast of Pharisees was Jesus. While these men foolishly argued over who was the most important and who got the best seat, the very Son of God was standing in their midst. He’s the one who speaks to sinners who are feeling the weight of their sin, who are humbled and crushed and broken, and says, “Friend, move up to a higher place. That seat that you could never earn, the seat of honor at my table? I earned it. I reserved it, for you. Come, feast with me in my kingdom!”
