How do we know what’s true? How do we know that God is something? How do we know that God is Triune? The answer is not to look for signs in the heavens above, or the earth below. It’s not to feel about in the dark sin-filled caverns of our hearts. Instead, we carefully and thoughtfully examine teachings. The Holy Spirit doesn’t work in a vacuum. He works through word and sacrament. This is where our holy God comes to us. Study his word. Examine it. Learn it. Compare it to the word of others. Listen to the spiritual leaders God has placed over you, who proclaim and teach the truth of that word.
