The fruits of repentance are simple. Love your neighbor as yourself. Do it with joy, because the Lord is coming soon. Luke calls John the Baptist’s message “good news” and indeed it was, and still is. Jesus is coming. Repent of your sins! But repent to rejoice. Christmas is not a day of sorrow and weeping and gnashing of teeth. It’s a day to celebrate. And the day when Jesus appears againfrom heaven will be the same. Your Savior is near. Rejoice!
